JetBlue will spearhead an upgrade of its Terminal 5 home at JFK Airport. Over the course of this year and next, the terminal will debut more than 40 concessions and amenities, including a redesigned center concourse and an art installation.

Among the enhancements will be the opening of at least 18 food and beverage offerings, including Shake Shack and Eataly.

The project will include the redesign of Terminal 5’s center concourse into a space designed to evoke New York City parks. The concourse will offer park benches, greenery and concrete chess tables and will have dedicated space for live performances and interactive events.

The new art installation will be spread throughout the terminal and will include more than 30 works from local artists.

JetBlue said the new concessions in Terminal 5 are expected to open throughout this year, with the terminal improvements completed by the end of 2026.

The Terminal 5 project is part of an ongoing $19 billion overhaul of JFK. JetBlue, which operates the lion's share of flights out of Terminal 5, is partnering on the improvements with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and terminal manager Fraport USA. JetBlue said funding is part of a $100 million investment into Terminal 5 by Fraport and terminal concessions partners.

The broader $19 billion JFK redevelopment includes the expansions of Terminal 4 and Terminal 8 and the construction of a new Terminal 1 and Terminal 6. The $4.2 billion Terminal 6 will house 10 widebody gates and connect post-security to Terminal 5. Overall, the project will add more than 4 million square feet of terminal space to the airport.

The JFK overhaul also includes roadway and infrastructure improvements.
