HX Expeditions ships will have a new look with exterior colors of "indigo blue" and "sand." The refreshed livery is the latest development in the expedition cruise line's rebranding journey from Hurtigruten to HX.
HX said the new colors are inspired by marine wildlife and will replace Hurtigruten's red and black colors. Hurtigruten operates Norwegian coastal cruises; the HX color change will ensure the lines are not confused when both brands are sailing in Norway.
HX spun off from Hurtigruten Group last month, and the expedition line's new investors promptly announced upgrades for two ships. The Spitsbergen's refurbishment work is underway in Spain, with the ship scheduled to return to service on April 2. The Fram's refurbishment will happen this April in a Panama drydock, with the new-look ship slated to return to service on May 26.
The Fram and Spitsbergen will receive upgrades to cabins, suites, science centers and restaurant areas.
HX's other ships are the Fridtjof Nansen, Santa Cruz II and Roald Amundsen.
HX is the line formerly known as Hurtigruten Expeditions -- that name change was made in late 2023. Along with the rebranding, the line has revamped its website, overhauled its branded materials and introduced a new indigo-blue jacket for guests.
